Urs Amiet

Urs AMIET is Swiss and he has the degree of a Civil Engineer. He was a Project Manager and the delegate of Caritas Switzerland in Armenia for two years. He then finished the Military Academy and became a Regular Officer. After serving in different functions in Switzerland and abroad, he became a Battalion Commander. Since two years, Lt Col Amiet is the Liaison Officer between the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (Federal Departement of Foreign Affairs) and the Armed Forces (Federal Departement of Defence). Contemporaneously he is leads the Rapid Response Team SDC and he is the Swiss operational Focal Point for UN INSARAG.
For the last 15 years, Urs Amiet was a volunteer in the Swiss Rapid Response Unit. He was deployed in several emergencies all over the world and also tasked to assist partner organizations in improving their national and/or international response organization. As a senior USAR Expert, he is permanent member of the UN INSARAG training working group, and he is the director of the UN Simulation Exercise 2013 in Lucerne/Switzerland.
Urs AMIET is married and father of two children.
