Head of Departement Finance and Communities, Canton of Grisons, Switzerland

Dr. iur.  Martin Schmid made his law degree at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland in 1995.  Since 2002 he is part of the Government of the Canton of Grisons and was elected President of the Government of the Canton of Grisons in 2007.

In addition to his governmental work he is also meber of numerous boards, such as:

-Member of the Executive Committee and the Plenary of the Conference of Cantonal Governments (KDK)
- Member of the Conference of Cantonal Finance Inside and CFOs (FDK)
- Board of Directors of the United Swiss Rhine Salt Works
- Member of the Arge Alp Conference
- President of the Administrative Commission of the Grisons cantonal pension fund
- Member of the Administrative Commission of the Public Service Institute of the Eastern BVG and foundation oversight
- Board of Trustees Niarchos Foundation and winter relief Graubünden
- Member of the directorial committee of the Institute of Public Finance and Financial Law at the University of St. Gallen
