Dr Emil Agustiono, epidemiologist , an Indonesian medical doctor who has been working at the Ministry of Health  Indonesia dealing with health crisis and emergency preparedness and response for eleven years  and followed by another ten years assignment at the Coordinating Ministry for People’s Welfare  to coordinate  the multisectoral agencies in disaster including pandemic preparedness and response  in the country . Before he was appointed as Deputy Minister for People's Welfare  who should be responsible for coordinating the health and population affairs as his current position , he was appointed as a director for health crisis centre under the Minister of Health Indonesia and  , he has been  also assigned  by the President of the Republic of Indonesia through  presidential decree since 2011 as secretary ,National Commission for Zoonotic Control  ,who has responsibility  to coordinate the multisector  institutions  to prevent and response the animal and human zoonotic including  avian flu and other emerging pandemic threats  in the country , the national commission coordinates the  inter-ministerial and multi-lateral agencies such as WHO,FAO,UN-OCHA , USAID  and others , Now he is  also  a focal point of ASEAN Technical Working Group on  Pandemic Preparedness and Response (TWGPPR) , with the responsibility to strengthen the ASEAN Member States (AMS) capacity to respond the pandemic and disasters including developing assessment indicators of the non-health sectors  pandemic preparedness capacity in the region., Currently he is also  facilitating the Prepare project funded by USAID to develop the Indonesia  pandemic preparedness plan of transportation, communication and energy sectors by implementing the whole of society approaches.
