IDRC Conferences and Workshops

A main pillar of GRF Davos consists of the International Disaster and Risk Conferences (IDRC) and Workshops, where leading experts meet from fields such as the natural, engineering and social sciences, politics, governments, the private sector, civil society, international organizations, NGOs and other risk management professions. After the successful launching of the IDRC idea with the first IDRC conference in 2006 in Davos (IDRC Davos 2006) and the first regional IDRC conference held in Harbin, China, in 2007 (IDRC Harbin 2007), IDRC was back in Davos in August 2008 (IDRC Davos 2008).

The IDRC Conferences and Workshops attempt to find answers and solutions to today's challenges in managing risk, reducing disasters and adaptating to climate change. They allow to build stronger ties with adequate public-private partnership models among risk management communities and sector and to move towards a more truly integrated way of thinking about disasters and risks.

3. International Disaster and Risk Conference - Davos

IDRC DAVOS 2010

30 MAY - 3 JUNE 2010

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND

After the past successful conferences in Switzerland and China,
IDRC in its bi-annual process is back again in the Swiss mountains in
Davos.

IDRC Davos 2010 is expected to bring together over 1.300 interested
individuals, policy makers, risk managers, scientists and other risk
experts from politics, governments, science, the private and civil
sector, NGOs, etc. to focus on the array of risks society is facing today
and on effective strategies to manage and reduce these risks and
disasters.

The conference will continue the dialogue between the different
risk areas and their stakeholders, but also serve as a bridge between
science, risk governance, technology perspectives, problem solving
and capacity building.
